Petition Calls on Sen. Roger Marshall to Hold Public Town Halls
LATEST IN | Pressure is mounting on Roger Marshall as a fast-growing petition gains momentum, calling on the senator to hold public events across the state.
The petition, led by Prairie Progress Civic Action, is rapidly gaining signatures and now includes thousands of Kansans from more than 100 counties. It asks Marshall to commit to hosting at least one public forum in communities across Kansas, including Sedgwick, Shawnee, Johnson, Douglas, Finney, and Barton counties.
“Public forums are a cornerstone of our democracy,” the petition states, framing the effort as a push for transparency, accountability, and direct engagement, and emphasizing the importance of meeting elected officials face-to-face to ask direct questions about policies that affect our families, our neighbors, and the future of our state. Supporters say the initiative is about accessibility, arguing that regular, in-person engagement between elected officials and constituents is essential to a functioning democracy.
It has been well over a year since Marshall last held a truly public event with Kansan constituents. Supporters say the message is simple: Kansans deserve to be heard, and signatures are continuing to pour in from communities big and small across the state. Now, they say, it is time to act.
Organizers are preparing to deliver those signatures directly to Marshall’s offices across Kansas, with seven offices and seven opportunities to respond.
As of now, there has been no public response from Marshall’s office regarding the petition.
