Kansans Deliver 3,850 Signatures to Senator Marshall’s Wichita and Overland Park Offices
IN KANSAS | Prairie Progress Civic Action, alongside Leading Kansas and Boots on the Ground Midwest, hand-delivered 3,850 petition signatures to two of Senator Roger Marshall’s offices in Wichita and Overland Park, calling for a fully public town hall meeting with Kansans.
We started our petition as a way for Kansans to express their frustration with the lack of accountability from our elected officials to their constituents. The signatures were delivered directly to two of Senator Marshall's Kansas offices, but despite requesting appointments and attempting to coordinate the deliveries, organizers arrived to find both offices empty. This demonstration was organized to highlight how many Kansans are tired of not being able to express problems and concerns for their families and neighbors directly to our Senator.
The signatures came from residents across the state, including 100 Kansas counties and 336 unique cities, representing 95% of Kansas counties and 54% of all cities statewide.
It has now been over 475 days since Senator Roger Marshall held a fully public town hall open to all Kansans. When questions got hard, he left the Oakley, Kansas, town hall and has not held a public event since. Senator Marshall continues to hold closed-door, private events with small, controlled groups while claiming he is hearing from our communities.
Prairie Progress Civic Action, alongside its partners, continues to call on Senator Marshall to hold an accessible, fully public town hall where constituents can ask questions directly and receive answers face-to-face.
Roger Marshall has a history of ignoring, avoiding, and dodging Kansans seeking answers. This is not about a single incident. It is about a pattern of disengagement that raises a basic question of accountability and access.
